To conclude a dramatic "will they, won't they" off-season, on Wednesday morning, the Big Ten athletic conference announced that they will play football.
The Big 10 was the first major conference to announce they were canceling the fall season and, in typical Big 10 fashion, thought that everyone would follow in their "stunning and brave" decision to cancel football.
As it turns out, three of the remaining four Power Five conferences (sorry PAC 12) implemented safety protocols, testing, and decided to do the truly brave thing, forging ahead to play football.
Both the ACC and Big 12 conference began their season this past weekend and the SEC schedule begins on September 26.
The successful start to football season clearly has embarrassed the Big Ten and forced them into changing their minds about the ability to play football.
The Big Ten‘s wishy-washy position may prove to be too little too late. Their season is slated to begin on October 23-24 and it seems at this juncture unlikely that they can get a complete season under their belts before the start of the College Football Playoffs.
But hey, it's better than no football at all.
