Remember back in 2019 when Greta Thunberg was taking the world by storm with her teenage pipe dream of saving the planet from climate change?
Justin Trudeau remembers, and he probably remembers this tweet he sent out in order to appease the teenage drama queen:
And so it began โ Canada invested $3.16 billion through their Natural Resources Canada program to plant two billion trees over ten years.
Today, the Honourable Seamus O'Regan, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources, launched the Government of Canada's plan to plant two billion trees over 10 years, with an investment of $3.16 billion. Meeting this commitment will help Canada address climate change by reducing carbon pollution and is a key part of Canada's efforts to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Such courage from these Canadian elites. I admire that, I really do.
Sorry, don't want to confuse you, I don't really admire that at all because it was all just a big virtue signal and as the years tick by it's becoming more and more obvious that this simply isn't a real plan, and it will never be followed through with.
The Trudeau government is, however, now saying that the tree planting fund is only part of a larger initiative to plant two billion trees as the fund fails to reach its targets each year.
Ah.
A Natural Resources Canada spokesperson told Le Devoir that "other federal departments and agencies, including ECCC [Environment and Climate Change Canada], Infrastructure Canada, Parks Canada and Veterans Affairs Canada, have also funded and/or supported the planting of additional trees in Canada on a smaller scale."
"These efforts are part of the Government of Canada's commitment to plant 2 billion trees."
They're desperate for more trees because they know the goal of two billion is unattainable. So now they're just counting as many planted trees as possible โ trees that would've been planted regardless of this ridiculous initiative. And that is because Canada is waaaay behind on their goal.
Fifty-six million trees have been planted through the government's tree planting program since 2021. However, Le Devoir reported that the Trudeau government added 54 million trees planted as a result of Environment and Climate Change Canada's Low Carbon Economy Fund (LCEF) to the count. Bringing the total to 110 million.
The tree planting program alone was supposed to plant 90 million trees in the first two years - an objective which it failed to meet.
So they're not hitting their goals and now they're adding planted trees from other programs to pad the stats. This would upset you if you were a Canadian, eh?
Did Trudeau really mean it when he said, "we'll plant two billion trees over the next ten years," or was he just saying this to keep the deranged teenager off his back?
(I mean, Thunberg is old news now so nothing to worry about if you're Trudeau here.)
Unless you account for the millions of liberals and conservatives alike in Canada who want answers as to why two billion trees became maybe a few hundred million or so, could hit a billion if we try hard enough.
Just another example of how the climate movement is a complete and utter joke.
I'll leave this cheesy video right here for ya.
