Um ... what?
The Hill is a left-leaning outlet that covers DC. It's not known for (too much) clickbait and it doesn't portray liberal public figures in a negative light, so I'm really confused over here.
'You should've threw a boy in the mix,' radio host Angie Martinez told Obama in an episode of the former first lady's 'IMO' podcast released Wednesday.
The remark came as Obama and her brother, Craig Robinson, along with Martinez, discussed society's view of masculinity and the challenges of raising boys and young men.
'I'm so glad I didn't have a boy' Obama exclaimed.
'Why didn't you throw in a third?' Martinez said with a chuckle to the mother of two.
'Because he would've been a Barack Obama,' the 'Becoming' author and former president's wife quipped to laughs.
I'm still confused.
I've never heard a woman who didn't hate men and/or her husband say she doesn't want a little junior running around.
'Baby Barack — it would've been amazing!' Martinez replied.
'Ooh, no, I would've felt for him,' Obama added of the potential mini version of the ex-commander in chief.
She would have been sad to raise a boy because ... she feels sorry for boys growing up in our culture?
Still confused.
The podcast episode also answered a question about raising a "kind son in a tough world." The Louisiana mom who asked the question (at 21:30 in the podcast) was concerned that her 17-year-old son was talking about the attractiveness of girls and being the best at football.
The mother wanted him to be sweet and kind and like reading.
(I think the mom wants a little girl 😂)
This helps us place Michelle's comment in context - that it's difficult to raise sons, and for her, raising a son felt more difficult than raising girls.
But I'm still confused why she said it the way she did and The Hill reported it the way they did!
