Um ... what?

Has Focus on the Family, the ministry started with the explicit goal of protecting the basic unit of civilization from liberal drift, caught the woke mind virus?

Commenters were quick to give Focus on the Family some helpful reminders from the Bible. It was particularly embarrassing for Focus on the Family to have Mark Driscoll dunking on them:

A lot of effort in recent years has gone into crafting words to soften the punch of the Gospel so it's more palatable to the people who hear it (convicting sinners of their sin just feels yucky sometimes, right?).

So when you see a major Christian ministry say something like "'being gay' doesn't send anybody to hell," that should raise some red flags. It certainly did for Christian reporter Megan Basham.

If you go to the link, it will take you to an article that focuses exclusively on how the label "gay Christian" is an oxymoron. 👇

That article seems quite solid. Even based, as the kids might say.

But just a few days ago, it linked to this article, which is still visible on Google searches. From a snapshot on June 12:

Focus on the Family says it swapped the links.

Whether or not you agree with Focus on the Family's social media practices here, let's make sure we're all on the same terms.

Sin is sin.

'No one undergoing a trial should say, "I am being tempted by God," since God is not tempted by evil, and he himself doesn't tempt anyone. But each person is tempted when he is drawn away and enticed by his own evil desire. Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.' - James 1:13-15

'But I tell you, everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.' - Matthew 5:28

Our "evil desires" condemn us as much as our actions. This goes for all sorts of sexual desires that are against God's created order and commands. This means "same-sex attraction" is in itself sinful, just as the man who quietly lusts after a woman is sinning.

Who can rescue us from our bodies of death?

Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Ultimately, I don't know if there's something woke scurrying under the floorboards in Focus on the Family's house.

What I do know is that faithful Christians have learned to be hyper-aware of woke termites in the last decade, and with the Holy Spirit guiding their sniffers, they've gotten pretty good at noticing possible termite damage.

Case in point:

Still, Focus on the Family took the time to respond to the confusion with this post, which strongly reaffirmed a commitment to Scripture. 👇

While I'm not here to slander or accuse them, I will remind the ministry of this:

Ministries not explicitly anti-woke become woke in the long run. And Satan is fine with the long game.
