What your dystopian future looks like

Saudi Arabia has unveiled plans for a new urban project, best described as an ant colony.

"The Line," which looks exactly as it sounds, is a proposed futurist city part of the Neom project and would be located in the northwest of the Gulf country, near the Red Sea. The Line is a vertical 656-foot wide building designed to sit 1,640 feet above sea level and will span 13 square miles.

No roads, no cars, and no emissions allowed.

They plan to shove 9 million people in there.

They call this "Vertical Urbanism," and I call it hell.

From the press release of "His Royal Highness" Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Chairman of the NEOM Board of Directors:

"THE LINE will tackle the challenges facing humanity in urban life today and will shine a light on alternative ways to live. We cannot ignore the livability and environmental crises facing our world's cities, and NEOM is at the forefront of delivering new and imaginative solutions to address these issues."

The Line will have it all, and you'll never have to leave!

Residents will stay comfortable in this tube with ideal climate all year round and can get anywhere (anywhere they're allowed to go) within a five-minute walk or a high-speed rail that takes you from one end of the colony to the other in only 20 minutes.

They say the interior will be built to create "experiences and magical moments," whatever that means...

This proposed project and its creepy narration will make you feel like you are going into a trance.

Listen to the sound of my voice...

My thick, German, Bond-villain voice...

Calm your mind... you are getting very, very sleepy...

This is the future... you will own nothing...

...and be happy.
