WWII vet Carl Dekel celebrated his 100th birthday on June 29 in Plant City, Florida.
His thoughts about what America has become and where she is going are truly heartbreaking.
"People don't realize what they have," Dekel said, showing his emotions. "The things we did and the things we fought for and the boys that died for it, it's all gone down the drain."
"We haven't got the country we had when I was raised, not at all," he said, being brought to tears. "Nobody will have the fun I had. Nobody will have the opportunity I had. It's just not the same and that's not what our boys, that's not what they died for."
I am in tears, y'all.
The saddest thing is that while most Americans would agree with him, they have very different definitions of how our country is "going to hell in a hand basket." Because Carl is a God-fearing, churchgoing Marine gunner, however, I have a feeling he's not a Critical-Race toting, #ShoutYourAbortion Marxist who wants drag queens to twerk in schools.
There are many of us who still believe in the American experiment, which would have ended long ago if not for the valor of our veterans.
This Independence Day, be bold in word and action to let them know their friends did not die in vain. ๐บ๐ธ
