NASA changes "controversial" names of space stuff...yet, "Uranus" remains intact.

NASA is the latest organization to ban racially insensitive celestial things.

In a statement last week, the space agency said that as the "community works to identify and address systemic discrimination and inequality in all aspects of the field, it has become clear that certain cosmic nicknames are not only insensitive, but can be actively harmful".

According to the article, NASA would rename the planetary "Eskimo Nebula" discovered 300 years ago and a pair of galaxy clusters called the "Siamese twins" as part of its effort to align cosmic objects with current thinking and conventions.

"Eskimo is widely viewed as a colonial term with a racist history, imposed on the indigenous people of Arctic regions," NASA explained in its statement. "Most official documents have moved away from its use."

No update on whether or not "Uranus" will be renamed to something more politically correct.
