They had some wild scenes out there in the Phoenix area yesterday as a massive haboob (windstorm) rolled through the area like something out of a movie.
Check this thing out:
The storm, which featured wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour, downed trees, ripped apart a connector bridge at the Phoenix airport, and left tens of thousands of people without power.
A bit of an explanation:
The haboob lasted about an hour.
What's more, it happened during the evening commute, so many were left stranded in their cars for that time.
Thunderstorms followed the dust storm and I only have one video of that, but it's incredibly awesome:
It's monsoon season in the Southwest, and this haboob is nothing new to the people of Arizona.
Though to us non-desert dwellers, this looks pretty wild 👇
