As the presidency of Joseph Robinette Biden mercifully comes to an end, Americans are being forced to endure the final death throes of a cripplingly lost four years. Four years that saw promises of unification and healing turn into petty political vendettas and demonizing divisiveness.
So perhaps no one should be surprised by the midnight acts of adulation that the addled mind of President Biden is now bestowing upon some of the more contemptible figures and polarizing malefactors in our politically fatigued country.
Take former Republican Representative Liz Cheney. The daughter of the formerly despised (by the left) "war-mongering" vice president, Cheney made a reputation for herself as a fierce opponent of Donald Trump. Along with men like Adam Kinzinger (who recently said he aligned more as a Democrat these days), Cheney was one of the few Republicans willing to participate in the January 6th witch hunt to identify and track down citizens who illegally entered the Capitol building during a riot.
For her efforts to pursue what later was revealed to be Hollywood-ized stagecraft for the cameras, Biden gave Cheney the second highest civilian honor in America, the Presidential Citizens Medal.
Some, like conservative journalist Mollie Hemingway, see through the dog and pony show for what it is. More than unimpressed with Biden's exaltation of Cheney, Hemingway uncorked a bottle of reality on the party:
Whether or not Hemingway ends up being right and Congress pursues investigations into Cheney's witness tampering and obstruction of justice (something that I honestly have a hard time seeing current Republican leadership doing), at least she highlights the shameful way these kinds of awards are used. Far from actually identifying and honoring otherwise anonymous, conscientious American citizens improving the lot and lives of their countrymen, our political class has turned these ceremonies into self-congratulatory spectacles of patronage and political payoffs.
Consider the fact that right now there are a large number of American citizens who are volunteering their time, money, and supplies to rebuild homes of those in North Carolina and surrounding areas devastated by hurricane flooding from a few months ago.
Why are we not wrapping a medal around the neck of those guys. And not just the Presidential Citizen Medal, how about the highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom?
Why are those awards going to Jew-hating Jews like George Soros, corrupt politicians like Hillary Clinton, and perverted atheist agitators like Bill Nye?
