In many ways, the so-called Israel-Palestine "conflict" is complicated. With so many variables — including religion, history, nationalism — it seems like the never-ending "cycle of violence" decried by ignorant politicians is doomed to continue forever.
But there's another variable that is usually ignored (or covered up) by the incredibly vocal minority of pro-Hamas lunatics in the West: the lies.
Specifically, that Palestinian activists live in a perpetual state of victimhood built on multiple lies at once.
Because when you really hate ze Jews, one lie isn't enough.
At all times, the loudest Palestinian activists will claim that Gaza was both a thriving beacon of prosperity prior to Israel's response to October 7 and a poverty-stricken concentration camp occupied by Israel; that the terrorist attacks of October 7 are imaginary creations of Zionist propaganda and that the Jewish victims on October 7 were valid targets of "resistance" efforts against colonialism and occupation; that a ceasefire must be achieved without preconditions and that Israel must be violently destroyed without delay.
And who can forget perhaps the most darkly laughable of all: that Hamas's live-streamed evidence of the violence of October 7 is unreliable, but Hamas's reporting of Palestinian casualties is unquestionably reliable.
Or what about the equally ridiculous argument that such beliefs are rooted in anti-Israel and/or anti-Zionist positions and not blatant anti-Semitism...while every Jew who even dares to point out the explosion of anti-Semitism in the United States is labeled as a Zionist directly responsible for committing genocide.
Sometimes, to be extra clever, they'll even replace the "s" in "Zionist" with a dollar sign. Because, again, this has nothing to do with anti-Semitism.
Meanwhile, if I made the argument in reverse — that speaking out in any way against the undeniable suffering of Palestinians means you are being paid off and that you therefore want to murder every Jew on the face of the planet — I'd be correctly laughed into oblivion.
Sometimes, these activists will even flip-flop from one of these outrageous claims to the other without even pausing for breath. And all of this was on display at the University of Kentucky this week during my speech on October 7 and anti-Semitism in America.
But here's the real problem: you can't possibly convince anyone of the truth when they have wrapped themselves in so many layers of lies.
Put simply: how can you convince someone that the mass murder, rape, torture, mutilation, burning alive and kidnapping of civilians is not a valid weapon of war when they believe the rapes both never happened and were valid expressions of resistance against Israel?
The truth is, you can't. The best you can do is get between them and everyone else to make sure that the truth isn't buried beneath their nonsense.
