As the release of the Twitter Files melts down the U.S. political scene, demonstrating in living color the outrageous levels of collusion between Democrat Party lawmakers and their wealthy friends running Big Tech companies, it's remarkable to consider that it all came crashing down because of a Christian satire site.
Eccentric billionaire Elon Musk made no secret about his affinity for The Babylon Bee and its sacred-cow-torching headlines. He liked it, he said, because in an era where Saturday Night Live, late-night TV comedians, and satirists alike felt obligated to conform to the cultural zeitgeist in order to avoid being cancelled, The Bee was fearlessly funny, and therefore effective.
The long road that led to Musk's acquisition of Twitter actually began when the left-wing activists operating the platform suspended The Babylon Bee's account. Columnists and commentators across the political spectrum have made persuasive arguments that had the Bee never been suspended, Musk's purchase, and thus all the current revelations about the jaw-dropping levels of deceit, bias, and corruption at the social media giant would have never happened.
I think it's fascinating, then, to collectively recall what The Bee was suspended for in the first place. The offending headline did nothing more than declare an objectively, scientifically accurate statement: that Richard "Rachel" Levine is a man.
Now, remember why that earned a permanent suspension from the platform, pending the deletion of the offending tweet. By virtue of the fact that Levine calls himself (that is, self-identifies as) a woman, that trumps everything. Including reality. It doesn't matter if he is a biological man; what matters is what he calls himself. And anyone who wishes to be considered moral and righteous, as evidenced by Twitter's judgmental declaration that The Bee's statement of fact was "hateful," must facilitate and participate in the charade.
- Teachers must use the wrong pronouns for students who "self-identify" as the opposite sex.
- Military officers are ordered to not use any gender pronouns in order to improve "lethality."
- And God help the convenience store clerk who doesn't acquiesce to the science-less demands:

Yet despite this aggressively and obsessively enacted religious dogma by these fervent progressive fanatics, recent events have shaken my confidence in their commitment to their faith.
It all started when LGBT activists in media and government pounced on the tragic shooting at ClubQ, a gay and lesbian nightclub in Colorado Springs. In the complete absence of evidence, a coordinated media campaign immediately painted conservative rhetoric and Christian beliefs as the culprit that motivated the killer to go on his violent rampage which killed 5 and wounded several others.
But when the facts emerged, as is so often the case, they didn't fit the anti-Christian narrative. As it turned out, the killer was the furthest thing from a Christ follower or one who espoused Christian orthodoxy on matters of sexuality. Self-identifying as "non-binary" (meaning he nonsensically believed himself to be neither male nor female), he was, in fact, firmly entrenched in radical gender ideology and its cultural revolution.
Suddenly an amazing phenomenon took place:
Wait, what? Never mind the audacity of judging by appearances – something I'm quite sure this transgender CNN guest "Natalee" would not appreciate being applied to him – since when can anyone speak with such certainty about matters of another's sexual identity? Does it matter what a person looks like now? Even if the killer can't present himself convincingly as a woman, is that now the standard?
If so, what was The Babylon Bee's crime? How were they any more guilty of "hateful conduct" than this man "Natalee" appearing on CNN? Or for that matter, how was CNN itself not appropriately censured for promoting such "transphobic misgendering"?
Please understand this isn't a "gotcha" moment or hyperventilation over routine left-wing hypocrisy. This is an earnest and honest request for someone on the progressive left to explain the rules they are trying so desperately to establish. Does a person have the right to self-identify? Do those rules get suspended if such self-identification reflects poorly on leftist causes?
Keep in mind, this isn't just one angry man dressed as a woman on CNN shooting his mouth off. NBC News is now citing "online extremism experts" (whatever made-up profession that is) and "LGBTQ advocates" who are stripping the ClubQ killer of his right to self-identify.
Why can NBC and CNN do this but the Babylon Bee cannot? What's more, why can NBC and CNN do this if you cannot doubt the legitimacy of the creepy man claiming he's a girl in order to use a public restroom with our daughters? If there's no reasonable, logical answer to that question, then let's go ahead and all admit these are made-up rules that no one really believes. That they exist simply to facilitate a political crusade that is all about power, not people.
It's remarkable, isn't it? You can silence it, hide it, or put make-up on it, but truth is a pesky thing that will eventually make itself known.
