When you protest evil, you must be prepared to accept the consequences.
In West Virginia of all places, five young girls have learned what that means.
This has become commonplace in every city and town of America. You think you're safe from the transgender cult because you live in a small, rural, conservative place like Harrison County? Think again.
The anti-religion of the Left controls the airwaves, the entertainment industry, and the academy, and where it doesn't outright control corporations, the courts, and the bureaucracy, it has immense influence that still shapes beliefs, behaviors, and policy.
- On one side, you have the well-meaning-but-bumbling administrators who say they fear God and love freedom but also think it would be mean to deny a boy access to girls' locker rooms and sports.
- On the other side, you have the passionate woke activist who doesn't have children or a business to run and therefore has immense free time to run for every board, council, and assembly in the tri-county area.
If reality, decency, and virtue are going to win the day against the cult leaders and their useful idiots, we are going to need to wake up to the reality that there are actually things on God's green earth that are worth the fight and steel ourselves for the war ahead.
I see many posts like these expressing anger and frustration:
But what are we going to DO about it?
Decent folks want to live and let live. They want to mind their own gardens and chitchat with the neighbors and take the kids to the beach and catch the ball game on TV and plan date night with their spouse. It's much easier to complain about the decaying state of their country than to do anything about it. They don't have time to be on any committees anyway.
But therein is why the decent folk are losing.
If they are going to win, they need to learn that being decent - with all the virtue and chivalry and bravery that implies - means actually getting their hands dirty in the wider world, whether they are ready for it or not.
When we stand before God, we cannot say that we were too scared to act, or that virtue was not convenient at the time. We have a duty greater than ourselves, and it doesn't start in a far-away country or Washington, DC. It starts with Bridgeport Middle School in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
The sleepy little Shires, full of those hobbits who want to mind their own gardens and tend their own hobbit holes, must wake up and fight.
'Who are you, and what d'you think you're doing?' said the ruffian-leader.
Farmer Cotton looked at him slowly. 'I was just going to ask you that,' he said. 'This isn't your country, and you're not wanted.'
'Well, you're wanted anyhow,' said the leader. 'We want you. Take him lads! Lockholes for him, and give him something to keep him quiet!'
The Men took one step forward and stopped short. There rose a roar of voices all round them, and suddenly they were aware that Farmer Cotton was not all alone. They were surrounded. In the dark on the edge of the firelight stood a ring of hobbits that had crept up out of the shadows. There was nearly two hundred of them, all holding some weapon.
To that end, here is the page of board members on the Harrison County Board of Education. I'm sure a few ten thousand phone calls would start to make them rethink the equation.
Here are all their phone numbers altogether:
Collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines has expressed interest in setting up a college fund for these girls as a direct way to support their bravery. Go voice your support and help get this created.
This madness is allowed in West Virginia because a US District Court of Appeals overturned a new West Virginia law that required athletes to compete in all-male or all-female sports with their biological sex, rather than a made-up gEnDeR iDenTiTy.
To win against the woke virus that's infected the justice system, we need to support organizations that are fighting to destroy the beast from within. Donate, volunteer, organize, win.
While you're at it, find a way to support the case that West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey filed against the county board.
Finally, whether in Harrison County or elsewhere, what board vacancy will you run for? It can be the PTA, it can be the city council, it can be the sheriff, it can be the board of education, or it can be the public works board. I don't care what it is: Get involved.
These boards and committees have been hijacked by the worst, least-competent people. If you care about anything, you can't simply complain on the internet and think voting Republican will change anything.
I'm as guilty of being a lazy hobbit as the next guy. This advice is not just for you, but for me. I'm not some great king or powerful wizard. I'm simply Joel of Michigan, but I've learned a thing or two about how God uses small people to do mighty things.
