They pushed too far too fast, and Christians now have an opening

For Christians and traditionalist conservatives, the so-called culture war had been lost. Gone. Done. Pop culture had long embraced moral rebellion against God. But when the majority of the "right," including Fox News, talk radio hosts, syndicated columnists, and elected officials joined the culture and stopped pretending to care about absolute truth, moral law, and the sanctity of life and family, it was done.

It was always going to end that way, of course. The natural progression of things is for liberty to decrease, authoritarian government to increase. The tragedy of life lived in a sin-stained world is that darkness will continue to spread even as it flees in terror from the light of truth.

So when abortion was the law of the land, when the world's all-time bestseller was stricken from use in the American classroom, when alternative sexualities and the deconstruction of family all became part of the new State religion, it was clear that while Truth is always Truth regardless of man's silly laws, this culture was no longer interested in submitting to it.

But something has happened, and it's not too difficult to figure out what that is. The revolutionaries pushed too far, too fast. Once the moral stakes were yanked out of the ground, there was no hope that they could ever be arbitrarily thrown back down into the dirt in the hope that they could slow or stop the oncoming snowball of degeneracy that was building.

What is occurring right now around us is that the majority of the population - that is, people who are not religious but who are still tethered in some way to rationality - is recoiling at how anti-science, anti-reality, anti-common sense their cultural rebellion has become.

In short, the Ls, Gs, and Bs were different, but fine ... whereas the Ts have lost their minds.

It truly doesn't matter how many times ESPN shouts "trans women are women," rational people know that men are not women. And the more sold out the Left becomes to this biological, physiological, and spiritual ignorance, the bigger the recoil becomes. Big enough to turn things around? While I wouldn't get carried away, this stuff is so crazy, so deranged, and its advocates are so impassioned about it all, that there is and there will continue to be growing resentment and anger towards things like this:

I've had a few RipCurl shirts in my day, and I can't say that my economic boycott of their surfware is going to do much to undermine their bottom line. But I know what happened to Bud Light when they went with a man dressed as a woman to try to sell their product to their burly clientele. I can't imagine that that RipCurl dismissing someone as famously inspiring as Bethany Hamilton and replacing her with a dude dressed as a woman is going to please the surf community either.

The online pushback has been intense, but for change to occur, it will have to be more than that. This isn't just an attack on reality, it's a direct attempt to erase the mystique and uniqueness of womanhood. It's sexist in the highest degree, meaning in the Left's own lexicon, it pits one "minority group" against another.

My take on all this is pretty straightforward: I do believe the outcome of the West's culture war is decided and Christians are on the losing end. Yet I also believe that there is a mounting kickback that will shake up and stunt the revolution soon. It will, in all likelihood delay the inevitable collapse as there will be a resurgence in the public's desire for "reasonable" and "reality-based" revolution. As inconsistent as that may be, it's what will take hold for a time.

And during that time, Christians have a great opportunity. We have the chance to tell a lost and dying culture that God is the foundation of all science, logic, reason, and morality. Therefore when you rebel against God, you are necessarily rebelling against the foundation and efficacy of science, logic, reason, and morality. None of those things can permanently endure without God at the center.

Even if the culture at large will never come around to acknowledging that, some lost individual might. And that's a war I want to engage and win.
