You have to see this 2006 clip of Joe Biden responding to a question about Israel showing restraint … what happened to this guy?

You hear this a lot, so I understand the hesitancy you likely feel about subjecting yourself to another video clip of our current president. But trust me, this is not like any you have seen before.

He's not confused. He's not saying inherently racist things that would end the career of anyone who wasn't a Democrat of national prominence. He's not talking about the hair on his legs, and he's not falling down. Watch this clip.

That is a video from 2006 of then-Senator Joe Biden responding to a reporter, Sharyl Attkisson, who was asking whether Israel needed to show restraint in their national defense operations.

Two things stand out at you when you watch that.

First, forget the content of what he said for just a minute, and take note of how he said it. Those were logical thoughts. That was understandable terminology.

You can't watch that and attempt to argue the stunning lack of mental acuity exhibited by that same man today. No, he has never been particularly smart, but there was a time when Joe Biden was lucid and capable of conjoining ideas into a coherent sentence. He has been able to field questions from the press that weren't scripted and planted. He has been able to give answers and responses without verbalizing the staff instructions written on his cue cards.

What the Left has done to prop up this doddering old man has been an offensive charade, a dangerous gamble with the safety of our country, and almost unforgivable elder abuse. Starting with Jill Biden herself, those who claim to love, care about, and appreciate this man have either been duped and used themselves, or they are sorry examples of how seductive the promise of power can be.

But secondly, go back, watch that clip again, and notice what the coherent version of Joe Biden once understood.

He could not have been more correct on this issue. He also could not be more at odds with the current policy positions of his own White House. Whether it has been to stave off confrontation with the squad and other pro-Hamas factions within his own party's congressional delegation, whether it is fear of losing the swing state of Michigan, and therefore this is an appeal to the state's significant Muslim population, whether it is a desperate appeal to pacify a radically, rebellious collegiate culture, or whether Biden has become a mindless suit parroting policy proposals written by Obama's primary foreign policy guru, Iran-sympathizer Ben Rhodes, the Biden White House has been atrocious since the Hamas savagery of October 7.

There has been nothing even remotely resembling the clarity and accuracy that Biden demonstrated in that 2006 clip. There has been grotesque moral equivalency, mind-boggling ultimatums given to Israel, and shameless justifications for a terror regime that promotes rape, worships Hitler, and relentlessly pursues the total annihilation of the Jewish people.

Is that who the modern Democrat party wants to be? Is that how far they have fallen and how far they wish to take us? If so, count me out. I'd prefer to stand, on this issue anyway, with the 2006 iteration of Joe Biden - back when he had his mind and a functioning moral compass on Israel.
