It used to be it took an average of like six weeks to get across the ocean. You might very well die in the attempt. And then of course you had to travel by horse to wherever you were going once you hit dry land.
Now we have amazing gas-powered aeroplanes that make the journey in about six hours. So please, for the love of Pete, if you've got a seat on one of these miracle machines, just be grateful for it. Don't be like this:
A flight to Israel turned back three hours after taking off because a passenger refused to get up from the airline steward's seat while waiting for the bathroom.
United Airlines flight 90 was on its way to Tel Aviv from Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey Sunday morning when it made a U-turn, the airline confirmed.
You can imagine what they must have thought back at Newark when they saw this play out on the radar.
So this guy apparently "wanted to use the bathroom, but because none were free he sat and waited in a seat intended for the cabin crew," touching off the whole fracas.
And you know, in a sense I sort of get it. You walked all the way to the bathroom. Maybe you really got to, you know, go. You don't want to walk all the way back. So you take a seat.
And I mean really, what's the big deal? Why was it so bad of him to sit there? Did the stewards really have to flip about it?
