A gay man claimed two homophobic men set him on fire. What really happened was way worse.

A San Diego gay man, Scott Rowin, received a lot of media attention when he got set on fire and told the news that it was a "hate-fueled attack" by two men yelling homophobic slurs, who then threw a flammable liquid on him.

"Immediately after that, I went up like coals on a barbecue. It started off really big," said Rowin.

He filed a police report regarding the hate crime.

But when police investigated, they ended up arresting Rowin for assault.

Why?

Because the person that set him on fire was a pregnant woman he ruthlessly beat and put in the hospital. The accelerant and fire were apparently used in self defense to save her life from Rowin.

Police issued a statement saying,

"Investigators determined that this man was the suspect who battered the pregnant woman from the earlier incident at 900 6th Avenue. Investigators have since determined the pregnant female was responsible for the burn injuries."

Detectives have since located security footage San Diego Police say shows the "initial physical assault by the man on the pregnant woman and the subsequent use of fire as a weapon by the pregnant woman on the man."

Jussie Smollett has nothing on this guy.

I'm sure the revolving doors of California's corrupt legal system will have him back out on the streets attacking pregnant women just as soon as his burns heal.
