A murder trial in India is being put on hold because a monkey reportedly stole a bunch of evidence, including the alleged murder weapon

It's always good to learn about other cultures. In Japan, for instance, it is customary to remove your shoes before entering a home. In Italy it's a modern tradition for men to live with their moms until like well past 35.

And in India it's apparently a time-honored practice to have monkeys do crazy, crazy stuff like this:

An Indian murder trial had to be halted on Wednesday under bizarre circumstances after a monkey stole several key pieces of evidence before the case reached court.

According to the Times of India, the monkey was able to snatch an evidence packet that contained 15 pieces of evidence - including a knife, the alleged murder weapon.

During a pre-trial hearing, Jaipur police had to admit to the court that since the murder in 2016, a monkey snatched the evidence while it was being transported.

Imagine being a police officer knowing that you're gonna have to tell the judge that the murder weapon was stolen by...a monkey.

Not just that: Imagine being the cop who had to tell the judge the specifics:

Key evidence including a knife believed to have been used by the suspects to murder Sharma were collected and placed in an evidence packet to await the court date, but the evidence was temporarily kept under a tree due to lack of space.

Oh yeaaah sure, you gather up the murder evidence but the evidence locker at the precinct is full, so you just stash it under the nearest banyan and hope for the best. That story totally checks out.

I dunno about you but I'm beginning to think a monkey had nothing to do with this.
