A public school in New York is no longer teaching kids "Jingle Bells" because they think the origin of the song has to do with "the use of collars on slaves with bells"

Uhhhhhhh, what?

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is a serious thing that actually happened in New York State. And it's not liberalism gone amok, I can assure you.

Like, if you have to come out and say it's not liberalism gone amok, then it's probably liberalism run amok...

Here's a bit of the out-of-control-ridiculous explanation Council Rock Primary School gave for scrapping the song:

"It may seem silly to some, but the fact that ‘Jingle Bells' was first performed in minstrel shows where white actors performed in blackface does actually matter when it comes to questions of what we use as material in school," [Brighton Central School District Superintendent Kevin] McGowan said.

Yup, seems pretty silly to me!

But wait…

THERE'S MORE!!!

"Some suggest that the use of collars on slaves with bells to send an alert that they were running away is connected to the origin of the song Jingle Bells," [Brighton Central School District assistant superintendent Allison] Rioux wrote. "While we are not taking a stance to whether that is true or not, we do feel strongly that this line of thinking is not in agreement with our district beliefs to value all cultures and experiences of our students."

These people cannot be serious.

"Jingle Bells" has absolutely nothing to do with slavery, or collars and bells on slaves.

The song is about taking a sleigh ride.

And this IS liberalism gone amok!

Oh, one last thing here for ya:
