A U.S. congressman proclaimed "Glory to Ukraine!" on the House floor and perhaps someone needs to remind him whom he's supposed to be serving.

I'll note here that should you so much as suggest that perhaps maybe sorta entering into a proxy war against Russia right on their doorstep might not be the bestest idea ever, you will be labeled a "Putin Stooge."

Proclaim your fealty to Ukraine, however, and you are are true patriotic red-blooded American!

"What Russia has done in Ukraine is immoral, it is illegal, it is against the word, the acts, the intensions of every godly character. God would not have approved. WWJD.

As a mid-level House member, Congressman Steve Cohen of Tennessee knows "What Jesus Would Do."

Jesus would be sending those MiG-29s is what he would be doing.

It's in the bible somewhere.

Wait, or am I thinking of Vom Krieg?

Anyway, Cohen was on a roll.

What Russia has done deserves the entire condemnation of the world and everything we can do to condemn them and put them out of organized, civilized society is appropriate because they're not acting as a civilized member of society…We need to punish them with all we have…

He finishes with this:

"Glory to Ukraine!"

Yeah! glory to... wait, what?

He's very proud of this moment, posting the transcript above on his official Congressional web site.

Here's the YouTube video which interestingly cuts off before he can finish. If all you watched was the video, you'd think he had said, "Glory to You."

Cohen is a classic backbencher, a middling Congressman who will likely retain his seat as long as he likes and is one of many poster boys for term limits.

On the other hand, he is known for his "quick wit." Just ask him, or better, read the biography he wrote for himself on his official House page:

Upon election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2006, Congressman Cohen immediately distinguished himself on the Hill for his thoughtful legislation and quick wit.

If you have to be the one to note your quick wit, you don't have a quick wit.

He doesn't serve on any defense committees, in fact most of his committees are second tier.

His legislative accomplishments, the ones he lists himself, include the following:

Amtrak dining car amendment to FY21 THUD Appropriations bill

  • Amendment Prohibited funds from being used to eliminate dining car service on Amtrak's long-distance routes.

Glory to overcooked chicken!

Of course I'm only including his accomplishments in the United States Congress. What about his accomplishments as a de facto member of the Ukrainian parliament?

I guess we'll have to wait and see.
