A Vermont yoga teacher suspected of murder is on the run somewhere in the United States after being "mistakenly released" from custody in Texas

A bizarre and troubling crime saga launched in Texas last month is still ongoing with the murder suspect currently at large after police mistakenly released her from custody.

Yoga teacher Kaitlin Armstrong was named as a suspect in the slaying of cyclist Anna Wilson late last month:

Kaitlin Marie Armstrong, a 34-year-old yoga instructor, is wanted for killing Anna Moriah Wilson, 25, who was found dead May 11 in Austin after she arrived from San Francisco to take part in a race in the city of Hico, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

Armstrong is suspected of having murdered Wilson due to the latter's involvement with the former's boyfriend, Colin Strickland:

Strickland said he had a relationship with Armstrong for three years, but he had a fling with Wilson while they were on a break in October.

A tipster told police that when Armstrong learned in January about Strickland's relationship with Wilson, she "became furious and was shaking in anger" — and wanted to kill Wilson, the American-Statesman reported, citing the affidavit.

That may or may not be true—a murder trial will likely determine that—but in the meantime, U.S. Marshalls are actively looking for Armstrong after she slipped through the fingers of law enforcement in Texas:

The hunt for love-triangle murder suspect Kaitlin Armstrong has been upgraded to a "major case" — with at least 70 tips pouring in about the fugitive who fled to New York after being "mistakenly released" from custody in Texas, according to investigators. ...

[D]uring questioning about the shooting last month, she "would not confirm or deny being in the area of the murder and quickly terminated the interview," Austin homicide Detective Richard Spitler told Fox News Digital.

"She was then mistakenly released from custody" because her date of birth in the department's report management system did not match the one on the warrant, the detective said.

Big mistake. The "major case" upgrade, meanwhile, will allow authorities access to much more financial and manpower resources in their hunt for Armstrong.

The U.S. Marshall Service, for one, is not playing around:

Let's hope she gets taken in safely and is held accountable for any crimes she may have committed.
