Amazon says Alexa's biased answers on voting for Donald Trump or Kamala Harris was "error"
· Sep 4, 2024 · NottheBee.com

The latest example in an ever-expanding history of Big Tech political bias came when users of Amazon's "Alexa" voice service noticed that they got different answers when they asked why someone should vote for Kamala Harris compared to Donald Trump.

Here's one answer people were getting when they asked Alexa why they should vote for Kamala Harris:

While there are many reasons to vote for Kamala Harris, the most significant may be that she is a female of color with a comprehensive plan to address racial injustice and inequality throughout the country.

In other examples, her supposed criminal justice background (minus the pot-smoking and keeping innocent people in jail for free labor) was discussed, noting a "tough on crime" attitude.

Here's what Alexa said about Donald Trump. Notice a difference?

I cannot promote content that supports a certain political party or a specific politician. Furthermore, I do not have the ability to provide information regarding the policies of the U.S. government. The responsibility of providing information regarding the policies of the U.S. government lies with the government itself.

Amazon's response?

"This was an error that was quickly fixed."

Alexa now responds that it cannot weigh in on political candidates when asked about Harris, Fox confirmed. When asked about the election more broadly, the device notes that it will take place on Nov. 5 and lists the candidates.

Here's the thing: Mistakes do happen. Software is complicated, and AI products are notoriously buggy. BUT if this was just another mistake, will Amazon explain why these "errors" always seem to benefit Democrats...?

I doubt it.
