Families of The Covenant School came together for their first chapel service at Covenant Church since the tragic shooting by a former trans student who took the lives of three adults and three children.
The families have been gathering at other nearby churches for worship, and it was a beautiful testament of the supernatural peace God gives His people:
This chapel service was going to be their first time back in their own building.
Just as they were about to start the service, an intense rainbow appeared in the skies above the school. The congregants walked out of the building to marvel at it.
Dave Barnes posted images and a video to Instagram with the following message:
A couple more pictures from yesterday at Covenant.
For those who missed my last post - yesterday afternoon, right as we were beginning our first chapel back as the Covenant School Community and also back at Covenant Church, this rainbow came out of NOWHERE.
It was SO bright and SO intense and seemed to last forever.
It was like God was yelling from heaven - "I see you! I have not forgotten you!"
It was one of the most poignant things I've ever experienced in my life. God never promises for everything to make sense. He's God and we're not. But He promises that He loves us and will always take care of us. And what did God decide to use show this promise (also known as his COVENANT!!) to his people?
Rainbows.
With all the rainbow-mafia nonsense in the news, sometimes it's easy to forget what the rainbow actually is. It is not a symbol of sinful behavior printed by humans on polyester flags.
Try as they might to take it, the rainbow will never be theirs.
Because, it is a real sign in the heavens of God's covenant never to flood the Earth again because of man's wickedness.
Even in the wake of this incredibly wicked event, God reminds us of that mercy.
