An orphaned seal pup is making friends with surfers by jumping on their surfboards and just chillin' 🦭

A seal pup has been jumping up on random surfboards at Tourmaline Surf Park in San Diego for the past few days. Some of the surfers say the pup was orphaned after a great white shark attacked an adult seal in the area last week.

Ever since then, the baby seal has remained in the area, chatting up local surfers, and going for a few joy rides. The seal reportedly jumps on a surfers board, hangs out for 5 to 10 minutes, then moves onto the next surfboard.

Ed Hartel, a photographer who took the drone videos of the baby seals unusual behavior said,

It seems healthy, seems to be happy. He just has this weird behavior where he wants to be around people and on their board.

The city and SeaWorld in San Diego are aware of the seal pup, but as he appears to be happy and healthy they are letting him be.

And the surfers don't seem to mind the cute visitor catching a few waves with them.
