The author of a book on cancel culture just got canceled for tweeting a FACT about Islam!

Journalist Julie Burchill's new book, Welcome to the Woke Trials: How #Identity Killed Progressive Politics, was scheduled to come out next spring. The book was going to be a scathing examination of political correctness and cancel culture.

And you'll never guess what happened: It just got canceled.

Why, you ask?

Well, why does anyone get canceled these days?

Say it with me:

Yep! She got in a Twitter war and said some things that someone didn't like. But here's what's wild: All she did was point out a well-established fact about Islam; specifically, that the prophet Muhammad married a child.

In response, the publishing company canceled her upcoming book, stating:

"While there is no legal definition of hate speech in the UK, we believe that Julie's comments on Islam are not defensible from a moral or intellectual standpoint, that they crossed a line with regard to race and religion, and that her book has now become inextricably linked with those views."

HOLD UP! Can we take another look at that statement?

"While there is no legal definition of hate speech in the UK..."

TRANSLATION: "Everything I'm about to say is meaningless..."

"Julie's comments on Islam are not defensible from a moral or intellectual standpoint"

TRANSLATION: "Inconvenient facts about Muhammad hurt my feelings, so they must be immoral and non-intellectual."

Let that sink in:

Facts are now considered intellectually indefensible.

"...they crossed a line with regard to race..."

I'm sorry, I need to use that last GIF again:

At what point was race involved in any way? Oh, that's right, race doesn't have anything to do with racism anymore, because...

Everything is Racist™

But it's okay, I'm sure if anybody were to say anything negative about Jesus or Christianity, the Wokeys would be all over them for it. Right?

...

...

Again, because it's worth being clear about... the reference to Muhammad's marriage with a 6-year-old girl is acknowledged (and defended) by most Muslims, with the exception of some of the more westernized followers. But it's in their own historical texts, from the girl's own words:

"The Messenger of God married me when I was six, and consummated the marriage with me when I was nine."

- Sahih-Bukhari Hadith, Volume 7, Book 62

Either way, the publishing company is worried about books that might become inextricably linked with the view that Muhammad was a pedophile.

Gosh, wouldn't that be terrible if there was a major book out there that became "inextricably linked" with that view?

Could you even imagine?
