Let's see: Russia invades Ukraine, China is releasing viruses and spy balloons, America gave Afghanistan back to terrorists, the border is a nightmare straight out of hell, drugs are destroying our cities, and military recruiting is alarmingly low.
What do you think the Department of Defense and the US Army should be focusing on now?
That's right: Climate change!
If you ask Biden's Deputy Defense Secretary, fighting climate change seems to be a pressing issue for the Army:
What a recruiting tool!
Young people! Sign up for the army! We're going to battle against the giant sun monster!
(Remember how West Point used to teach students tactics for winning wars??)
Today's meeting was a precursor to her visit to USMA next week to deliver an address highlighting the impact climate change will have on military operations, and how energy resilience and sustainability efforts improve readiness and advance Department of Defense priorities.
Yes! We have to think about the effect climate change will have on military operations! Like, if the models are right and the world is 2 degrees Celsius warmer in 100 years, maybe we'd have to wear a lighter jacket.
You've gotta consider these things.
Also, we've got to replace reliable gas-engine vehicles for the battlefield with electric vehicles that are less effective and reliable and we have to charge every few hours.
The next war is gonna be interesting, to say the least!
