Austin votes to become "sanctuary city" for child sex-change surgeries

They took "Keep Austin Weird" to a whole new level.

In a 9-1 vote, the city of Austin, Texas, decided to stay the black sheep of the Texas family by voting in favor of becoming a "sanctuary city" for child abuse.

This means they voted to ignore state law and the hill they are willing to die on is the sterilization and mutilation of children.

One brave detransitioner spoke out against the law before its passage:

Despite this testimony, and despite the very clear reality of the evil trans agenda, the city of Austin decided to willfully stand against Texas law.

The resolution was sent to the council by the city's LGBTQ Quality of Life Advisory Commission. It states that the policy of the city will be that no city personnel, funds, or resources will be used to investigate, criminally prosecute, or impose administrative penalties on gender-confused individuals seeking gender-mutilative procedures or an individual or organization attempting to assist the individual to receive the procedures.

Long story short:

In response, Attorney General Ken Paxton called the resolution "an empty political statement," but vowed to ensure that SB 14 was enforced throughout the state.

"If the City of Austin refuses to follow the law and protect children, my office will consider every possible response to ensure compliance. Texas municipalities do not have the authority to pick and choose which state laws they will or will not abide by. The people of Texas have spoken, and Austin City Council must listen," said Paxton.

The way Austin is attempting to get around this is by simply making the law harder to enforce within its jurisdiction.

Hopefully, Paxton will be able to close down any gender clinics or illegal child mutilation services in Austin, despite this new policy.
