Remember how unprepared our nation was for Covid? Federal stockpiles of PPE had dwindled to dangerously low levels and states' ventilator supply chains had been left extremely vulnerable to disruptions.
This is like that, only times a million:
You read that right. Corn pops and Apple Jacks are suffering the same fate.
Kellogg's is still working overtime to keep supplies of its most beloved cereals not named cornflakes — Froot Loops, Apple Jacks and Corn Pops — in stock as people continue to consume large quantities of food at home amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ramifications of this cannot be overstated.
We could institute a kind of "Operation Warp Speed" to develop quickie substitutes, but let's just say the traditional flu vaccine is to the Covid vaccines what original Froot Loops is to "Far Out Fruities."
Who knows what the side effects would be?! Other than personal humiliation.
And forget about just giving your kids a bowl of sugar. Sure, that would be almost as sweet, but it's not the same without all the chemicals.
It's the tanginess that would be missing, you know?
Fortunately, relief is on the way.
But, the tight supply dynamic should change in coming months as more production kicks in.
"We're going to be in good shape in the second half of the year," Cahillane adds.
Lord please bring us through this temporary time of lack!
