How in the world did Bath and Body Works' DEI team let their new "klandle" design slip through?

Bath and Body Works' new candle scent and design, "Snowed In," just got pulled from the shelves, and it's not because they're out here trying to release Christmas-themed merch in October (though that's a good reason).

Nor were they removed because that paper snowflake design looks like an AI-generated monstrosity (and it's entirely possible that's what happened given their announcement that they would be embracing AI-powered customer experiences).

Yeah, the candle got pulled because it looks like a costume favored by the former Democratic Governor of Virginia.

People have taken to calling the monstrosity the "klandle."

(A snowflake has six points, people!)

A spokesperson for the fragrance-oriented company said,

At Bath & Body Works, we are committed to listening to our teams and customers, and committed to fixing any mistakes we make - even those that are unintentional, like this one. We apologize to anyone we've offended and are swiftly working to have this item removed and are evaluating our process going forward.

Some people called for the company to hire a DEI officer to avoid this sort of thing.

But the funny thing is they have one: Kelie Charles.

Seriously, her one job is to scream, "That's Racist!"

But something like this slips by?

It might be time to fire their diversity team and spend that money on a human design team capable of recognizing the difference between a snowflake and a KKK hood.

Except I hear competency is white supremacy now ...
