The fake news REALLY loved reporting Jack Smith's speculations today. Check it out.

The skillset of the swamp is endless, and apparently now includes being able to look into the future minds of a future jury.

According to disgraced Special Counsel Jack Smith in a partially-released report, the supposed evidence stacked against soon-to-be President Donald Trump was "sufficient to obtain and sustain a conviction at trial."

Or in other words, "Trump would have been convicted if not elected, DoJ report says," as the BBC put it.

This is all according to the first part of a report released to Congress by Biden's Department of Justice, which "gives further detail on why Smith pursued the case, and ultimately closed it", as the BBC reported:

  • It justifies the case against Trump by accusing him of "unprecedented efforts to unlawfully retain power" through "threats and encouragement of violence against his perceived opponents"

  • Running through Mr Trump's "criminal efforts" were election fraud claims he knew to be false, it says

  • The report details "significant challenges" faced by investigators, including Trump's use of social media to target witnesses, courts, and justice department employees

  • Denying the case was politically motivated, Smith says: "The claim from Mr Trump that my decisions as a prosecutor were influenced or directed by the [President Joe] Biden administration or other political actors is, in a word, laughable"

  • Smith further reflects in the accompanying letter: "While we were not able to bring the cases we charged to trial, I believe the fact that our team stood up for the rule of law matters"

That's great, but I'm still confused why everyone is reporting the speculation of a prosecutor as though it was a done deal. Trump was never proven guilty in court; therefore, there is absolutely no reason to parrot Smith's claim with headlines like this ...

... unless your "objective" newsroom hates Trump's guts and wanted to see him convicted.

Judge Aileen Cannon has ordered a further hearing to determine whether or not to release the second part of the report, which focuses on classified documents.

Thank goodness Trump didn't keep classified documents in a box in his garage next to his Corvette, otherwise he'd really be in trouble...
