Ladies and gentlemen, we are witnessing something that has not happened on the public stage in a long time.

Somebody in a position of power is actually being held responsible and accountable for the bad workmanship that has gone on under his watch and is losing their job.

(Of course, he's a white male so I guess he's expendable.)

I'm just saying that you don't see any efforts to rid Boeing of DEI hires and diversity requirements.

We're seeing a MAJOR overhaul happening at Boeing now after a slew of high-profile plane incidents and accidents, as well as Boeing losing a major contract with United.

CEO Dave Calhoun confirmed he was leaving the company in a statement, along with Stan Deal, the CEO and president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, and Chairman Larry Kellner, who will not stand for reelection at the next shareholders' annual meeting.

It's a bloodbath over at Boeing!

The fallout from that fateful flight shows no sign of stopping: The FBI informed passengers last week that they may have been the victims of a crime which the bureau is still investigating.

The CEO acknowledges that the buck stops at Boeing when it comes to all of the recent incidents in air travel, and that the Alaska Airlines flight that lost a door was really the turning point.

In a letter to staff, posted on the Boeing website, Calhoun acknowledged that the Alaska Airlines incident had changed the company.

"As you all know, the Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 accident was a watershed moment for Boeing," he wrote. "We must continue to respond to this accident with humility and complete transparency. We also must inculcate a total commitment to safety and quality at every level of our company."

Like I said, this is one of the most rare things in the modern world, seeing a major CEO step down like this.

The only question now is who replaces him and what changes they'll make to help ensure safety.
