Things are still cray cray in Washington:
Earlier reports said Scalise (Louisiana) didn't think he had the 217 votes needed to secure the speakership, which opens the door for Jim Jordan (Ohio), Majority Whip Tom Emmer (Minnesota), and Kevin Hern (Oklahoma), who commands the largest GOP caucus in Congress.
Around 20 Republicans had said they wouldn't vote for Scalise for various reasons, either because of his perceived closeness in policy/leadership to Kevin McCarthy or the fact that he is battling blood cancer, which could take a large majority of his time and energy.
I know this makes some people anxious, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm loving this scramble of the status quo. Let's shake it up as long as it takes!
