We know that, per media reports, the Biden administration was considering a plan to give nearly half a million dollars to each illegal immigrant separated from his or her family at the border in 2018.
Well, no less than President Joe Biden himself has directly rebuked those reports.
The ACLU kinda more or less humiliated him by suggesting that maybe he just hadn't been informed of the plan by his own government:
Biden had insisted that the story was "garbage" in response to a question from Fox News' Peter Doocy on Wednesday...
Yet ACLU Executive Director Anthony D. Romero told Fox News that the plan is very much in the works.
"President Biden may not have been fully briefed about the actions of his very own Justice Department as it carefully deliberated and considered the crimes committed against thousands of families separated from their children as an intentional governmental policy," Romero said.
Um... ouch!
Consider the possibilities here:
- Either Biden is right and the whole story is bunk
- Biden is trying to lie his way out of a humiliating policy
- Biden literally wasn't told of this major, controversial plan going on inside his own government
I'm not sure which would be worse, though there's a distinct fourth possibility, and that's that the plan is real, Biden was told about it, but he... just forgot about it.
I hate to say it, but I think option four might be the smart bet.
