Seriously, what is the point of this?

Build-A-Bear is getting into the adult toy business. Maybe we should re-phrase that: Build-A-Bear is going to now be offering adult-themed versions of its stuffed bear toys. As Valentine's Day approaches, Build-A-Bear took to its Facebook Page to remind consumers that "Wink, wink – our Giftshop is full of gifts for adults too! Shop Build-A-Bear After Dark for unique gift ideas that are sure to get you hugged."

Okay, let's go ahead and parse this out for a moment.

First of all, why the "wink wink?" The literal heck???

What does that accomplish? Is the implication that giving an "adult-themed" bear from Build-a-Build is going to win you points in the romance department?

More importantly... how exactly do these stuffed animals qualify as "gifts for adults?" Looking them over, they're just... stuffed animals. Nearly all of them are indistinguishable from a stuffed animal you might give a kid.

There are an inordinate amount of stuffed animals with wine glasses attached to them, which is, honestly, a little depressing.

Like, we had to give the bears wine? And then we had to make them pose in sultry positions, as if the thing our culture needs right now is sexualized children's toys?

I think I'll pass.
