Caitlin Clark breaks NCAA women's basketball scoring record

You guys, this might be the last time the NCAA women's basketball scoring record is set by an actual woman so let's celebrate!

3,569 points is the new NCAA women's scoring record!

And that number will only go up!

Last night at a sold out Carver-Hawkeye Arena Caitlin Clark had a chance to make history. She only needed 8 points to break the NCAA women's scoring record; she scored a career-high 49. What a way to break the record, huh?

Here's the moment she broke the it.

Bro, that was a Steph Cury three right there!

They stopped play to celebrate:

Huge props to Caitlin for her achievement here. More to come from her, I guarantee it.

Interesting note here, Clark still has some scoring to do if she wants to break the overall women's college basketball scoring record.

Clark's huge night put her at 3,569 points and within 80 of her next milestone, Lynette Woodard's major women's college scoring record of 3,649 …

Clark set the record in 126 games, 13 fewer than [Kelsey] Plum, who finished with 3,527 points in four seasons at Washington from 2013-17. Woodard starred at Kansas from 1977-81, an era when women's sports were governed by the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women. Pearl Moore of Francis Marion holds the overall women's record with 4,061 points from 1975-79. Woodard and Moore played before the 3-point line was introduced.

During her postgame courtside interview crowds could be heard chanting, "One more year," and Caitlin does have the opportunity to return for a fifth year since the 2019 season was shortened due to Covid.

We'll see what she decides to do. She's projected to be the #1 pick in the WNBA draft.

Keep up the good work, Caitlin. Can't wait to see what you and the girls can do come March.
