California is about to mandate the Covid vaccine for all kids, science and statistical risk be damned.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday announced the nation's first coronavirus vaccination mandate for schoolchildren, a plan that will have all elementary through high school students get the shots once the vaccine gains final approval from the U.S. government for different age groups.
The government has fully approved the COVID-19 vaccine for those 16 and over but only granted an emergency authorization for anyone 12 to 15. Once federal regulators fully approve the vaccine for that group, the state will require students in seventh through 12th grades to get vaccinated in both public and private schools, Newsom's office said.
But you know it's not going to stop there.
As soon as the vax becomes available to 5-year-old kids, the Socialist Republic of California is going to mandate it for kindergartners as well.
The state will require the COVID-19 vaccine for students in kindergarten through sixth grade only after the federal government has given final approval for anyone 5 to 11.
I'll go ahead and call this child abuse, since it is.
Again, I'll ask: Do you think this will stop with 5-year-olds?
In Los Angeles County โ the nation's largest, with more than 10 million residents โ just 1.7% of people tested for the virus have it and daily infections are down by half in the last month, when most kids went back to school.
You know where else cases are low and getting lower? Places like Sweden that had no lockdowns from the beginning, and places like Florida, which went back to normal life a year ago.
"These numbers are amazingly low given that 3,000-plus schools are now open countywide," county Health Director Barbara Ferrer said Thursday.
Yeah, no duh, Sherlock. Even the CDC was saying (up until the White House muzzled them to satisfy the teachers' unions) that schools have much lower rates of transmission than the surrounding community and that it is safe for kids to be there.
And it is, because as of this moment, a total of 213 kids aged 14 and younger have died from Covid in almost two years out of a population of over 73 million in the United States. Many of those had underlying health conditions.
Meanwhile, over 12,000 kids will die from random, tragic accidents this year alone.
I'm so glad that our nation's "health directors" are finally catching up to the science that you and I have known since June 2020.
The state's vaccine mandate would take effect the semester after the federal government grants final approval. If it comes in January, then the mandate would take effect in July.
Here's the scariest part by a long shot:
Students would be granted religious and medical exemptions, but the rules for how the state would apply those exemptions have not been written yet. Any student who refuses to take the vaccine would be forced to complete an independent study course at home.
On one hand, I can't wait for California to be the new homeschooling capital of the world.
On the other, if Californians have any sense left (highly debatable, I know!), they will openly and brazenly defy this by the millions and dare the schools to kick out their kids (and lose that sweet tax money the unions love so dang much).
The smartest Californians, however, will head straight to rent a U-Haul and never look back!
