Canada, I hate to say it, but you've become a meme.
A military is designed to be mean.
Its job is literally to kill enemies in defense of the nation.
But Canada's top general, Jennie Carignan, is devastated that the country's lethal fighting force sometimes uses unkind words?
Systemic racism, racial discrimination, and harassment are an affront to these values, and yet we allowed these injustices to occur and fester within our ranks. Therefore, on behalf of the Canadian Armed Forces, I offer my most sincere and deepest apologies.
The apology is a little on the nose. It's the most stereotypical Canadian thing of all time!
If any Canadian men are reading this: Does this make you want to fight and die for your country?
Carignan is Canada's first female Chief of the Defense Staff.
When the march of history inevitably requires Canada to defend itself, will there even be anyone left to do so?
