CBS says more Americans are having to choose between food or keeping the lights on. They blame climate change, of course.

Americans are in year four of the worst economic leadership in our lifetimes and people are literally having to choose between their power bill and eating.

It's so bad that even the fake news regime has to report on it:

Maybe you think all that Covid spending to make up for lockdowns or Bidenomics is to blame. But a closer inspection of the story reveals that CBS is blaming a larger force of nature:

CLIMATE CHANGE!

This story is nothing but a propaganda campaign for government program growth in North Carolina. It's all about an initiative to help people in poverty pay for energy.

(But the program doesn't get enough state dollars and therefore doesn't go far enough for the commies at CBS.)

During the heat dome that blanketed much of the Southeast in June, Stacey Freeman used window units to cool her poorly insulated mobile home in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Over the winter, the 44-year-old mom relied on space heaters.

In both instances, her energy bills reached hundreds of dollars a month.

'Sometimes I have to choose whether I'm going to pay the light bill,' Freeman said, 'or do I pay all the rent or buy food or not let my son do a sport?'

As a regional field organizer for PowerUp NC, Freeman's job is to help people properly weatherize their homes, particularly in the Sandhills region, where she lives and works and where poverty and rising temperatures make residents vulnerable to the health impacts of climate change.

Her job is to give people assistance to weatherize their homes. Fair enough. The problem is that her job pays too well for the program to weatherize HER OWN home.

But, the crux of the article is not that Bidenomics has driven energy costs through the roof. Biden-Harris couldn't be to blame.

The real culprit is climate change.

Because being a half degree warmer outside is totally what is making our power bill hundreds of dollars higher.

Freeman struggles with what is known as energy poverty, including the inability to afford utilities to heat or cool a home. Households that spend more than 6% of their income on energy bills are energy-poor, some researchers suggest.

Energy poverty can increase one's exposure to extreme heat or cold, which raises the risk of developing respiratory issues, heart problems, allergies, kidney disorders, and other health conditions. And the burden falls disproportionately on households in communities of color, which experience it at a rate 60% greater than those in white communities.

Energy poverty is the new "food desert" isn't it?

The weather is racist now! Global warming is one thing, but RACIST global warming is a particular monster!

A made up socialist catchphrase to make you buy into government solutions to problems.

And the solution? Pay the government MORE MONEY.

'Energy poverty is just one example of how climate change can exacerbate existing inequities in our communities,' said Summer Tonizzo, a spokesperson for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

The Daddy State will stop that evil Sun Monster if you give him more taxes!

CBS justifies this by saying this:

Extreme heat is the No. 1 cause of weather-related deaths in the U.S., a risk that grows as temperatures rise.

Yeah, except that's blurring the data, at the least!

A 2015 study in The Lancet found that cold-related deaths outpaced heat-related deaths by a factor of FIFTEEN. This study did not account for the rise in sickness-related deaths in the winter. The winter also lasts longer, and prolonged cold is different than a week-long heatwave.

But CBS doesn't want to get into the weeds of nuance. There's a sun monster to stop!

As for me, I think giving people better jobs, letting them keep more of their money, cutting regulations thus allowing businesses to pay more for employees - and, call me crazy - shuffling a few million "newcomers" out of the country to free up labor and housing may be a better way to help people afford to pay their bills and feed their families.

But I guess the "experts" say we have to give the government more of our paycheck and they'll make everything better.
