Check out these 7 examples of Christian Nationalism in your favorite Christmas hymns so you can spread the extremist cheer this season!

Bitter people who want to keep the dying gods of secular humanism alive have been pushing the label "Christian Nationalists" lately.

They like to lump a vast group of people into that category, when the truth is there are a few wackos who think Trump is Jesus 2.0 along with tens of millions of people who believe basic Christian things about the lordship of Christ and the Christian duty to pray for God's will "to be done on earth as it is in heaven."

In short, this has led to many of those tens of millions adopting the title of Christian Nationalist with pride, just like the believers in Antioch adopted the derogatory term "Little Christs" long ago.

For two thousand years, it hasn't been a secret that Christians believe Jesus Christ actually turned death itself backwards, undoing the curse of Adam by dying without sin for our crimes. This is the basic teaching of the faith. The men of Athens scoffed at the Apostle Paul for this claim. Roman Governor Festus called Paul crazy for believing it.

If Christ did not come back from the dead, then Christians are to be pitied above all others, for they suffer for a lie. But if He did, then Christians are taught explicitly to live as if He is the Risen King who will come to judge the nations and wrestle them away from the usurper, the devil, who claims to be the prince of this world.

How then should Christians, who pray and work to "make disciples of all nations" order their communities and societies?

By allowing Satanist displays in the Iowa Capitol for the sake of Christ??

I think not.

Let's turn to some of our favorite Christmas hymns from yesteryear to get a glimpse at what all Christians believed until 5 seconds ago when pastors with skinny jeans and liberal arts degrees started telling people that Christ has nothing to do with politics.

O Holy Night:

"Chains shall He break" is surely metaphorical, right? We must be talking about spiritual bondage, not physical chains.

"The slave is our brother."

Ah. Interesting.

"And in His Name all oppression shall cease."

How does one cause oppression to cease? Because in my life, I've never seen a wicked criminal stop oppressing people out of the goodness of his own heart. Many will have their hearts softened by the Gospel, but not all. What of them? Are you telling me that Christ will make them comply? Gasp! That sounds an awful lot like wielding political authority!

Joy To The World:

WHAT A HYMN!

Earth must receive her King? EVERY heart should prepare Him room? He rules the world and MAKES the nations prove his love and glory?? You're telling me that Christ controls the destinies of nations and a nation is doomed if it doesn't order itself in line with Him? WHAAAAAT?

Silent Night:

Jesus was Lord at His birth! Herod, Caesar, and all the other kings of history were immediately subject to him already, though they knew it not. All leaders, from Xi Jinping to Joe Biden, fall under Christ's lordship. This is a basic Christian teaching, and one of the reasons America's founders got rid of the monarchy - they believed it was better for men to live free under a moral societal contract (our Constitution) than under kings who so often tried to jump the chain of command and declare themselves to be above Christ.

The First Noel:

If Christ's blood has bought us, then we are owned by Him. The Apostle Paul called himself a "slave to Christ." A Christian is then compelled to prepare the world for the coming of His master, like a servant preparing for the return of his lord to a mansion after a long absence.

Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak.

Hark The Herald Angels Sing:

The nations must rise to join the "triumph of the skies"? Sounds like you're calling the countries of the world to join with heaven in proclaiming Christ's victory!

It Came Upon A Midnight Clear:

Jesus will rule the world and this is inevitable, as was foretold thousands of years ago?

Groundbreaking stuff. Who knew that Christians believed this??

Angels We Have Heard On High:

Bending our knee to Christ? But Russell Moore and the crew of Christianity Today have told me that it would be mean to suggest that every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. We need to be winsome. WINSOME!

Here is the message of "Christ Mass":

Jesus is God who became human in order that He might suffer and die in our place so that death is not the end for us. This world is dark and full of broken people with shameful thoughts and wicked deeds. You are one of them. I am one of them.

There was no hope before this. There was only struggle and then death. The advent of Jesus - His coming to earth - split history in two. Before, God overlooked the ignorance of nations that followed after other gods, but now he calls all people to repent (Acts 17:30).

For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.

You can rebel against this thought. "How is this ultimatum different than Islam?"

Perhaps it isn't. The difference is in which Creator you will choose. There is a world of difference between Christ and Allah. But simply choosing neither will not end the inevitable: "A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word 'darkness' on the walls of his cell."

Christ emptied Himself, became a helpless baby born to two nobodies in the middle of nowhere, and lived a simple life that ended in brutal suffering. This is the template He left us. That example is how we remake nations.

Not through jihad and conquest. Not through "might makes right." Through long-suffering, love, and the continual ordering of our homes and institutions to reflect the lordship of Christ.

That, my friends, is true Christian Nationalism. And it's been going for 2,023 years strong.
