Christian college student in Uganda murdered after sharing his faith with Muslim classmates

Uganda is one of the most Christian countries in the world, at around 82% of the population.

But just because Christians are the overwhelming majority doesn't mean that Christians can tell the truth without fear of physical repercussions.

Recently, a Christian college student in Uganda was murdered by Muslims after sharing his faith at school. 24-year-old Jeremiah Mwanga was murdered in his room and, according to his friends, it was because he had the boldness to share the Gospel of Christ with his Muslim classmates.

Mwanga had asked for prayers from the Christian Union at his school after he began receiving threats for sharing the Good News.

This comes among a spate of killings of Christians who have shared their faith with Muslims in Uganda.

The (anonymous) friend requested he be given Mwanga's personal effects, including his mobile phone (after Mwanga was pronounced dead).

"Going through the phone, I found out that the threatening message was from a Muslim student who happened to come from Kapchorwa also," he said. "I then took the phone to the school administration who reported the matter to the police."

The suspect has been arrested and police are still investigating the killing.

Uganda allows for religious freedom, including freedom to evangelize. However, this does not slow down the religious persecution continually carried out by Islamists.

Continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Africa.
