Cincinnati Police Chief Colonel Teresa A. Theetge has some strong words for people who shared a viral video of a black mob sucker-punching a white lady.

The irresponsibility of social media is it just shows one side of the equation.

(You will probably not be surprised to learn that Theetge's college degree from Xavier is in Human Resources.)

After being shamed by millions on social media into actually doing her job and addressing the savage attack, she finally conducted a press conference.

But instead of providing context on the crime, she scolded everyone else for sharing things out of context (here's her full statement), presumably referring to the fact that many accounts are framing it as a violent racial attack on a white couple that was peacefully enjoying an evening out on the town.

At Not the Bee, we actually did look at the context, and found that one of the white guys (there were multiple people involved) threw the first slap, and that his white friends seemed to be helping him escalate the situation toward violence 👇

Everything else is speculation. Some reports say the group of white people were followed from the Cincinnati Jazz Festival for several blocks. At least one black woman who claims to have been there says the white guys hurled insults at the black guys first. What actually happened, and why wasn't there more of a police presence downtown?

I dunno, because Teresa A. Theetge didn't tell us!

Even when asked what context was omitted from the story by social media and journalists, she refused to elaborate.

Heck, I got more info from Vivek Ramaswamy (who is running for governor of Ohio) than I did from Cincinnati officials!

How hard is it to say, "We condemn the attempted murder of these people. Sucker-punching a woman onto the concrete is never okay. We will investigate how the incident started and ask people to refrain from insinuating a certain motive as we work to bring the perpetrators to justice"?

Instead, the police chief went full HR manager on us, blaming alcohol, telling worried residents that their fears of going downtown are dumb, and blaming witnesses for not calling the police instead of filming on their phones.

Reminds me of this old schoolmarm, the Police Chief of New Orleans, reacting to a terror attack that happened in her city:

Who is hiring these women?

I'll leave ya with this 👇
