This CNN reporter told a Trump voter that the economy can't be doing too bad because he owns a boat and I'd like to give her a piece of my mind

Yes, CNN really did this.

[Warning: One S-bomb]

  • Trump voter: The economy is bad. People are suffering.

  • CNN reporter: Yeah but you have a boat so why do you care?

She even doubled down!

Groceries are, probably, a smaller part of your budget than say someone who is a little worse off. I think it's interesting that people who are a little more comfortable are still concerned about the economy.

She's lecturing him!

"You have a boat so you don't need to be worried, bub."

Are you telling this man that he shouldn't care about the financial suffering of poorer people because he's already got it made???

Beyond that, she has no clue how much financial strain this guy is under. What if he has kids? What are his margins now that the cost of feeding and clothing them has doubled in the last few years?

What if he bought the boat because his family can't afford a bigger house with 7% interest, and that boat lets them get out of the cramped little starter home they moved into two decades ago?

What if a family member has medical bills from an emergency operation and they are now tens of thousands of dollars in debt and that boat - which he saved up for over years and years of work - is their only outlet of fun left amid the financial storm?

The absolute GALL of CNN to ask such a question.

My grandfather was an engineer who moved into a Michigan town on the shoreline of Lake Michigan back in the 1950s. He earned a modest income for the time.

With that income, he owned a large boat for salmon fishing and water skiing with his six kids. He invested in some waterfront property in northern Michigan for his children. He bought a small hobby farm. He even purchased a small island up in Canada for family vacations and hired a man to manage it.

By all standards, he was on the upper side of middle class.

And he was able to buy all those things.

It's nearly impossible to do that now. Unless you forgo marriage and children (AKA the best things you can experience in life except Jesus) so you have more money to spend on yourself, that American Dream is nearly dead.

But this guy has a boat, which means he should double down on Kamala Harris and her policies ... or something.
