Colt and Savannah Reece met in an unusual way when a local photographer decided to jump on the "Blind Date Photoshoot" trend back in 2021.
The photographer, a friend of Savannah's, encouraged her to be one of the models, saying she had the fun personality needed to pull the photoshoot off. Savannah agreed. Meanwhile, Colt Reece was convinced by some of his friends to give the unusual blind date a shot.
The photoshoot took place at East Fork Lake in Bethel, Ohio, ironically the very same place that Savannah's parents got engaged after meeting on a blind date themselves.
To start the blind date, Colt and Savannah were both literally blindfolded until the start of the photoshoot.
When the blindfolds were removed Colt said his first reaction was ...
relief that it all wasn't a practical joke set up by my friends. Like โOK, there's someone here.'
The photoshoot went on, with cute pictures that were essentially posed to look like engagement photos ... but with total strangers posing together and getting to know one another at the same time.
Savannah admitted to feeling awkward during the photo shoot, saying,
At first, it's awkward because you don't know them, and then you have to get all cuddly with each other and do those awkward couple pictures, but we laughed the whole time.
That was just the first of many days full of laughter for the couple who began dating shortly after meeting at the staged blind date.
The two returned to the same place to take their engagement and wedding photos in the two years since that first meeting, and now this year they're expecting their first child, a baby boy, who is due on Valentine's Day.
