Cue the tears! This man forbade his daughter from donating him the kidney he desperately needed ... but she did it anyway as an "anonymous donor"

Delayne Ivanowski, a 25-year-old nurse from St. Louis, Missouri, wanted to donate a kidney to her father after he was diagnosed with kidney disease and placed on dialysis.

Delayne explained,

For over a year, he's been hooked up to a machine for three, four, five hours a day. It's not the right quality of life I don't think anyone should have to live in. So, then my first thought was, why can't he just have my kidney right now?

But her dad, John Ivanowski, objected, saying Delayne had too much life ahead of her to make such a big sacrifice.

Delayne just couldn't take no for an answer. So she spent the next 9 months plotting to donate her kidney secretly.

She told ABC News,

I was like, "I'm going to do it. I don't care how mad he is at me. I don't care if he kicks me out of the house or hates me or doesn't say a word to me for the rest of my life. At least he'll be living a good life and not hooked up to a machine."

Delayne went through all the tests to become his kidney donor and never told her father. She turned out to be a match, and when he was well enough to receive the transplant the two of them had the surgery.

John Ivanowski said he was shocked when the hospital called to tell him about the "anonymous" kidney donor, telling ABC,

They called me at work and said, "We've got an anonymous donor," and I about dropped the phone and thought are you kidding me? People can be on the [kidney waiting] list for five, six, seven, eight years and go through dialysis for that long, and I just couldn't believe it.

Her dad didn't find out who the donor was until after he woke up from the surgery, which was successful.

Delayne posted a video on TikTok of the moment her dad found out that she was his kidney donor.

John has since forgiven his daughter for going behind his back and defying his wishes:

I can't stop crying. I mean I was upset, but I'm so grateful.

Queen moves right there.
