Yesterday Marine veteran Daniel Penny was charged for his role in the death of Jordan Neely in New York City this month:
And, I mean, I'm no legal expert, but this seems like it might sorta be important information for the judge and jury to have:
[A] 66-year-old woman, who chose to remain anonymous, told the New York Post that Neely's erratic behavior soon took a turn for the worse and he began shouting at other passengers.
"He said, 'I don't care. I'll take a bullet, I'll go to jail' because he would kill people on the train," she recalled. "He said, 'I would kill a motherf*cker. I don't care. I'll take a bullet. I'll go to jail'."
Penny, this anonymous woman said, reportedly did not attempt to subdue Neely until the apparent death threats began — which is, you know, a pretty relevant detail for everyone involved in this ridiculous trial.
"I'm praying for him," the woman told the Post, "and I pray that he gets treated fairly."
