Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy wants to raise the voting age to 25

Remember some years ago when a ton of Democrats voted to lower the voting age to 16?

This is kinda a hobby-horse of the Left, and it's not hard to see why: They want to let younger and younger people into the voting booth because younger people are less knowledgeable more susceptible to the Democratic messages of free stuff, huge government and LGBTQ ideology.

For my part, I prefer the Ramaswamy doctrine:

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is proposing raising the legal voting age to 25, his campaign announced Thursday.

His proposal would allow 18-year-olds to vote if they met a "national service requirement" – if they're an emergency responder or served at least six months in the military – or they pass the naturalization exam, the test immigrants must pass to become US citizens. The change would require a constitutional amendment, making its enactment unlikely.

Oh, this constitutional amendment would be "unlikely," huh?

There's a lot to be said for raising the voting age. Young people on average know a lot less than older people. They have less stake in the policies that shape our country. Young people are idiots. No offense to any young people reading, of course.

Making them wait until they're older means they won't vote until they have more to gain — and lose — from the laws and lawmakers they vote for.

Democrats don't want that. Young voters are easy pickings. It's not hard to sway them with false messaging and government handouts.

I'm just saying — I'm not entirely opposed to the idea. I'd like to see a national discourse on it.
