Dealing major blow to the Patriarchy, Melbourne council forbids men from applying to street-sweeping job
· Sep 8, 2021 · NottheBee.com

In what advocates are hailing as a once-in-a-generation blow against the oppressive forces of patriarchy, a fearless public council in Melbourne, Australia, has barred men from a key public works opportunity:

A Melbourne council has limited applications for a $63,000-a-year street sweeper job to people who identify as 'non-male'.

Darebin City Council, in Melbourne's northern suburbs, posted the Street Sweeper Operator vacancy on its website, with applications closing in mid September.

The advert states only women and non-binary or gender-nonconforming people are eligible for the job in order to achieve 'a diverse and inclusive organisation that reflects our community'.

Finally. It is time.

For too long the street-sweeping industry in Melbourne has been a hotbed of male dominance and simmering patriarchal tyranny. Generations of women and non-binary folx have had to watch as male administrators barred the door against them, throwing away the hundreds of gender-nonconforming applications that rolled into the street sweeper's office every year.

What a joke.

A new day in Melbourne is dawning, but the fight for the woke is not over: The hotpatch and jackhammer industries are still woefully lopsided in favor of men.

I assume the woke will lead us into a glorious future of true gender equality when the entirety of public works is 75% female/non-binary!
