Rep. Tulsi Gabbard did the seemingly reasonable thing of introducing legislation to ban biological males from competing in women's sports at the college level. Now, of course, she's being canceled for it.
Gabbard's bill would make it so Title IX could only be applied based on a person's biological sex. She titled the bill the "Protect Women's Sports Act" and it was co-authored by Rep. Markwayne Mullin, a Republican from Oklahoma.
According to Sports Illustrated, NCAA rules currently allow transgender women (that's dudes who say they're ladies, btw) to participate in women's sports. This new legislation would change that.

Since its creation, Title IX has been confronted by various challenges, often resulting in nuanced or situational solutions to the circumstances. This has included considering the fairness of an individual of one sex to play on a team designated for another sex when no such team is available to the individual, such as women's field hockey or men's football. This bill protects the sex-based intention of Title IX protections by reaffirming the biological sex-based distinctions between men and women in athletics.
