This NYC Chipotle is engaged in an epic war with rats. Now they are closed indefinitely after FOUR EMPLOYEES WERE BITTEN and the rats took out the cash registers.

Well, this is kind of horrifying.

A Chipotle restaurant in Upper Manhattan had to close down indefinitely late last month after workers admitted defeat against hordes of rats.

According to workers at the fast-casual eatery, they started finding avocados and other products that had been chewed on, forcing them to start keeping everything in the refrigerator.

Don't worry, a few rats gnawing on the food wasn't enough to shut the restaurant down.

They say at least FOUR EMPLOYEES have been bitten doing battle with the rodents.

But eventually, the rats organized their war efforts toward more strategic targets. They chewed through the wires of the cash registers, rendering them completely useless. Because of this the store finally had to close completely.

The registers not working. That was the thing that made them close. Not the rat infestation.

The workers say they've killed dozens of rats, but the rat resistance remains undeterred.

Check out this hilarious excerpt from the story in the New York Post:

"It really started to take a toll on us," said Melvin Paulino, a three-year veteran at the store who was bitten by a rat last Friday while cleaning. "We're all scared, it's pretty common that some of my co-workers will just start screaming out of the blue and we don't know what's happening.

"It's pure chaos every time a rat appears."

Is it lunchtime yet?
