Just three weeks after the release of the movie adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy's, Chuck E. Cheese has announced that they're ditching all their animatronic bands except in one location in Northridge, California.

If you're not familiar with the game and movie, the plot of Five Nights at Freddy's involves a security guard locked inside a Chuck E. Cheese inspired restaurant with animatronic animals trying to kill him.

The trailer pretty much sums up every nightmare I had as a child going to Chuck E. Cheese.

And apparently, the video game and movie have struck the same chord with others as the movie has cleared $127 million at the box office; that's way more than Disney's The Marvels, which is a whole different kind of horror movie.

I guess Chuck E. Cheese got the hint.

They held a press conference announcing the end of their animatronic band, but of course they did it in the creepiest way possible.

So, why are they keeping the Northridge animatronics at that location?

David McKillips, President and CEO of Chuck E. Cheese parent company, CEC Entertainment said,

As an important part of the legacy of the brand, we know that the animatronic band holds a special place for many fans in their childhood memories. We want our fans to know that the decision to keep the band here is meant as a gesture of love and gratitude as our legacy continues to evolve in new ways.

Those creepy things are a love letter to us?

Gee that's sweet in a weird, nightmare stalker sort of way.

The other 400 Chuck E. Cheese locations are updating to include more flashing lights, obnoxious pop music, and other loud noises to push parents past the point of rationale spending, but at least they'll be keeping the prizes that cost an impossible amount of tickets for the kids.

After more than 30 years, I only have 5,000 more tickets to go and that My Pet Monster on the top shelf will finally be mine!
