Discovery+ announces series "Breaking Hillsong" which sounds as demoralizing as you'd imagine

Right when you might've thought the headlines of the Hillsong scandals were dying down, Discovery+ decided to give us another round of pummeling in the form of a three-episode documentary series titled "Breaking Hillsong."

"The series will profile current and ex-members of the church who have come forward to share harrowing stories of trauma, abuse, financial and labor exploitation, homophobia and racism that created a culture of chaos at Hillsong," according to Deadline.

"Additionally, Breaking Hillsong will examine the greater phenomenon of corruption within megachurches."

Breaklight Pictures partnered with investigative journalist Hannah Frishberg, using her many articles on Hillsong and former pastor Carl Lentz as "source material" for the series.

Maybe Pastor Brian Houston thought his interview with Savannah Guthrie would take his church network out of the media hot seat. Evidently, they're not out of the woods yet.

"Breaking Hillsong will chronicle the headline-making world of Hillsong, with exclusive, never-before-seen interviews, including Ranin Karim, the New York-based fashion designer whose five-month affair with Lentz led to his downfall," Deadspin reports.

Lord knows what's in that docuseries...
